This product does not contain the active portion of the mushroom that makes it medicine--it appears that LEM is being siphoned off the marketplace due to importation adulterated batch a few years ago. All of this country's stock was being imported from China--none of the companies have LEM in their products anymore. It has been known for years that LEM is a medicine and the mycelium of the shiitake mushroom helps the immune system by enhancing the B and T cells to fight invaders. Researchers, and now medical clinics use compounds from these mushrooms against cancer of the testis, liver, and other contained organs, and China used it in the SARS epidemic some years ago. It has saved my life, and I have gone from surviving to thriving, after systemic organ failure in 1992.

In my experience, Planetary Herbals always produce top quality products... The only negative about this product is that it doesn't specify what quantity is standardized.. only that some of the contents is standardized. So you have to assume that the standardized ingregient is minimal. Also, it's a shame that they dont make a higher dosage product. But this compares well to all other Shiitake products in terms of dosage and quality.
